ClearSign Technologies Corporation has announced that its process burner performance has received Best Available Control Technology (BACT) determinations for single and multi-process burner heaters. This determination was made by the South Coast Air Quality Management District of California (SCAQMD) as part of its periodic public participation process to enhance existing BACT determinations. The results of ClearSign’s burner performance assessments have contributed to the establishment of new emissions limits. The company believes that the new BACT limits represent a significant endorsement of its capabilities and the practicality of its emissions controlling technology. Along with the process burner BACT determinations, the BACT limit for boiler burners over 500hp was reduced to 2.5ppm NOx, the same NOx level that ClearSign’s technology has demonstrated in formal testing without the need for selective catalytic reduction. These new BACT determinations were approved by the SCAQMD board based on analysis and recommendations made by the Scientific Review Committee, consisting of regulators from SCAQMD, the California Air Resources Board, the Environmental Protection Agency, and other industry representatives.
